Are you setting goals or just dreaming?

Are you chasing your dreams or just wishing your dreams will come true? Life founder Tim Marks is one of the best teachers when it comes to setting and achieving goals.

Tim lays out six steps to hitting your goal.

1) Define what you want out of life

2) Write down your goals

3) Set a deadline on your goal

4) List what you need to accomplish that goal

5) Create a plan

6) Take action on the plan immediately

7) Do something everyday that takes you towards your goal, keep moving

Watch this video from Tim and take notes, make this your year to hit your goals and live the life you have always wanted!

God bless,

Dan Hawkins

  1. Thanks for sharing Dan. I like number one, define what you want. Wonder how many people actually take the first step.

    1. Sadly many give up on a better future before they even decide what they are giving up! Thank you for being a dreamer!

      1. I have been a student of Tim Marks for years. His ability to teach about goal setting and game planning is unsurpassed in the business world.

        1. What better guy to learn how to set goals from than a man who is very driven and goal orientated?!

  2. One more reason to Love this community!

  3. Ugh. Gut check again for me! I do a lot of dreaming. Even after I write a goal down in my planner, it remains a dream because I don’t set a date to it. I guess when you know where you’re going, but you don’t know how or by when, it’s still like not knowing where you’re going! New task: figure out reasonable time-lines for our goals! (And then act on them!)

    1. Sounds like you will be hitting some goals real soon!

        1. I like your style Adam!

      2. We will be! The Ulrichs are planning on getting a nice Floridian tan come December. 🙂

  4. Thanks for this post. Love the video, too. We are excited to see the growth so many people are having and how that will continue throughout the year as belief and momentum build!

    1. You are leading the way, keep serving!

  5. I love this. So many people including me grew up never learning the importance of this OR how to do this. This step by step talk is very helpful for anyone courageous enough to make a commitment to quit whinning about life and take the steps to do the work to have the life they always wanted. Thank you for sharing this.

    1. Thank you for the great comment, it is so true, it takes courage to chase your dreams!

  6. Thanks Dan! This post is like your are trading my mind! I’m resetting my goals. My team and I are making plans to see you and Orrin in florida on December 1St! As always you hit the nail on the head! Your an awesome P.C. leader!

    1. Thank you John, I look forward to spending time in Florida with you and your team!

  8. Thanks for highlighting this video from Tim Marks and the Life business Dan. This is such a help to me in my time crunched and often flashlight focused days. I see this as a an excellent, laser beam focused, tool for me to use and to share.

    1. Thank you Eric, the life I have now is in large part due to your guidance! You are making a difference!

  10. Great video Dan!

In Orrin’s book Resolved I recalled the story of legendary football Coach Lou Holtz….. finishing what he started through the strength of his convictions; by setting goals and taking action, transformed his life.

    1. Great point!! First thing Lou Holtz did??? He defined what he wanted – then he wrote it down. If it worked for him – there is no reason it won’t work for us, as well

      1. Lou Holtz’s book is a great read!

  11. Thanks for the reminder. Daydreaming got me through the drudgery of high school and college, but my failure to set goals impeded my development greatly!

  12. Thanks for sharing this great video, Dan!! Tim is such a great communicator and I love to hear him speak about goal setting and game planning. There is no better time than now to decide what we want, get our heads in the game and go out there to achieve it!!!

  13. Amazing truths that work! Thanks Dan for the reminder of how important goal setting is. I always have to remind myself that a goal not set is a goal that’s been hit. Thanks for showing the way!

  14. Helpful article. I can’t think of anyone better to talk about this than Tim. He really has that driven, goal oriented spirit about him. Thanks for posting this!!

  18. Such a simple step by step process to achieve our goals. Easy to do, but easy not to do. Thanks Dan, for the reminder.

  19. Dan, I have always set goal from a very young age. I always had a date or age set with them. With this blog. It made me think about what I have been missing is the date or age attached to my goal.
thank you for the wake up,

    Nicole

  20. I reaaly appreciated this article, goals separate the prepared from the unprepared!

  21. LIFE makes it so doable !! Thanks

  22. I love how Tim tells us not to worry about whether or not it is attainable right now! Our minds are so powerful. If we make the start and the finish our brain will connect the dots. The Mielkes, Hawkins and Marks have all proven that truth in their own lives! Thanks for the example.
