A chance to climb: The LIFE Business

Hello everyone I wanted to share this article by best-selling author Orrin Woodward because it so accurately explains the success Lisa and I have been able to experience in the LIFE business.

It reminds me of a time when the owner of the company I worked for was teasing me about getting into a pyramid scheme. He said something to the effect “The guy on top always makes the most money and you will never really get successful enough to get financially free.” So I asked him a simple question. How can I, as a mechanic working for you, earn more money than you? I am willing to work 24/7, can I out earn you? He stared with a pause and then said, “no, I charge $100 an hour for your time and pay you $25 an hour.” “Even if you worked 24 hours a day I always make more….but thats different, he said.” Yeah, because you are on top of this pyramid!  You would have a different perspective if you where in my shoes! You see, I had no way to advance, no way to make it to his position. I never met a mechanic who achieved financial independence in that field!

My introduction to the LIFE Business

When I was introduced to the MLM profession the first thing I noticed was I have a chance. A chance to climb as high as I want with the only limiting factor being my ability to learn and grow my self and my craft. The LIFE business is that chance for you, giving limitless possibilities but requiring you to develop the skills necessary for success. I believe that is what scared me initially. I had a job that I could live a decent life, pay the bills and be comfortable. I did not even need to give it my all and I would get by.  But deep inside, buried by fear, was the desire to climb out of mediocrity and win in life.  I love the quote by Chris Brady, “There is no significance in a safe life and no safety in a significant life.” This profession is filled with people wanting to help you bring our your best. There are so many ways in this world one can achieve success by stepping on others, LIFE in contrast, you succeed by lifting up others.

Mentors in the LIFE Business

I am so thankful that the founders of the LIFE business decided to launch a company that levels the playing field for everyone. Dan and Lisa Hawkins will be forever grateful to George & Jill Guzzardo and Orrin and Laurie Woodward for lifting us up and giving us a chance to climb!

Find and fulfill you purpose in LIFE, I dare you!

God bless,

Dan Hawkins

The MLM Life: Pyramids & Purpose

Posted by Orrin Woodward on January 23, 2013

Hachette, the number two book publisher in the world, will release, under the Business Plus imprint, Oliver DeMille and my new book LeaderShift on April 16 of this year. In LeaderShift, we wrote about the difference between Credentialist and Creators. The Credentialist career plan follows the traditional path of getting the right degrees, building the proper resume’, and following the approved formula for “success.” Creators, in contrast, take an unconventional approach to success and build their own trails to their dreams. Although we hadn’t coined the terminology yet, when, in 1994, I left the #2 MBA program in the USA (University of Michigan), I exited the Credentialist path and launched my Creator destiny.

The MLM life intrigued me after I opened my mind to truly comprehend the opportunity. Over time, I realized I could rise as high as my leadership took me, no longer blocked by limited experience, age, or political prowess. Indeed, the Creator’s path rejects Credentialist opinions and moves up by serving customers, not kissing the boss’s behind. :) Hating politics and loving numbers (remember, I am an engineer :) ), I realized a person’s pay raise becomes effective as soon as he does. This is huge for a Creator since he can focus on serving customers, not bosses. Essentially, this is the difference between the two career paths. Creators like to challenge themselves in the marketplace to determine whether their ideas are viable. Credentialist, by contrast, like to stay behind the lines, hoping to advance up the hierarchy through impressive resumes’ rather than creative ability.

Many of my friends and family thought I was crazy, saying I was giving up a great career as an engineer, which, incidentally, by the age of 25, I had already received four patents and won a National Technical Benchmarking Award. Furthermore, I was promoted to 7th level senior engineer at the unheard of age of 25 with a 19% raise for the year. Nevertheless, I knew the Credentialist path was too risky. Why? Because it placed my ability to advance into a boss’s hands, leaving me chained by his opinions rather than the customer’s satisfaction. Interestingly, the 12,000 people who worked at AC Rochester in Flint are now no longer working at the facility since the buildings have been torn down and it’s literally miles of cement surrounded by a fence. Very sad, but sobering reminder of what happens when a person places his destiny in Credentialist hands.

Despite getting started in a poor compensation plan, I knew that any Creator path was better than the best Credentialist path for me. However, this isn’t true for everyone. Network Marketing/MLM, in other words, isn’t the ticket for everyone, which is why I stopped trying to get everyone into network marketing years ago. I learned that Creators are a different breed than Credentialist, and attract themselves to the LIFE Business when it is understood for what it is – a free enterprise system that rewards performance. Creators love that they will be compensated based upon results not politics. Credentialist hate it for the same reason. This, in essence, is the problem with America – the credentialist who flocked to government in order to hide from their personal scoreboard are now using government power to destroy the creators who created the American dream. Government control within the economic sphere destroys the creators efforts and rewards, thus destroying the American Dream as we know it.

Network Marketing is one of the last bastions of free-enterprise left in Western Civilization. It allowed Laurie and I the time (over five years) to refine our skills and develop our for success. Many would say that’s too long to invest in a Creator path. On the contrary, we understood that a five year investment to develop the Creator mindset is a small price to pay. For instance, look at especially how many people invest over five years to get degrees that are practically worthless upon graduation. That is too big a price to pay! Please don’t misunderstand me, I love education, but education and a college degree are not one and the same. What I love about compensated communities is the scoreboard communicates constantly whether true education is occurring or not. Leadership simply cannot be faked. If people are following a person, then he is a leader; if not, then he’s not, regardless of what his credentials might say.

Corporate Pyramid

Corporate Pyramid

Let me close with one of the greatest misconceptions in the MLM field. People will say to me, “But Orrin, isn’t the MLM profession a pyramid?” Although I don’t get this objection as much as I used to since MLM is becoming more common, I still think it’s worth analyzing. There are several factors to consider. First, review where one works currently. Is it a corporate job or small business? Draw out the corporate hierarchy. Did anyone notice, that as he was drawing it out, that the person at the top has several direct reports, who have direct reports, who have several direct reports until the bottom is reached? Indeed, this structure is the quintessential pyramid because they guy at the top always makes more than they guy below him right down to the bottom guy or gal who makes the least. Network Marketing, in contrast, doesn’t pay based upon when you fall within the hierarchy or when a person joined the company. Rather, it compensates based upon how many groups a person is willing to serve every month. For example, when Laurie and I started in MLM, we had tons to learn and made many mistakes. Still, within 12 months we had passed hundreds of thousands of people who had started before us. In fact, within a decade, we had passed over a million people and were in the top handful of income earners within the company. Pyramid? On the contrary, MLM is the best method yet designed for Creators to rise out of the corporate quagmire. Where one starts in networking is irrelevant; what one does with his spot is everything.

Laurie and I followed an unconventional path to success and are proud we did. If you are a Credentialist, then either be willing to change or don’t join the LIFE Business. LIFE offers nothing for the radical Credentialist because no part of his pay is based upon his past. Bonuses are based only upon a person’s ability to serve others. However, if you are a Creator or desire to be, and have been frustrated by the credentialist system blocking your path, then you will LOVE the LIFE Business. The MLM life isn’t for everyone, but it sure has satisfied millions of Creators around the world. The choice is yours, and consequently, so too are the results.

Sincerely,

I want to share an article from Orrin Woodward that I was reading this morning about creative destruction in the business world. What impresses me most about Orrin is how well read he is. Whenever I hear someone criticize Orrin or LIFE it is strictly hearsay and gossip, where Orrin always has data and history to back up his choices and thoughts. I like the saying, “In God we trust, everyone else must have data.” I have worked with Orrin and the Team for 8 years now and everything they do can be traced to numerous sources for the principles they are following. As soon as you start to study business, leadership, people and history you quickly see why Orrin does what he does and realize the greatness of the-life-business.com.

Orrin Woodward: With freedom, entrepreneurs are always thinking of better ways to serve the customers. When a better idea is implemented, cost go down, quality goes up, and customer satisfaction is rewarded through increased profits for entrepreneurs.

This is how the-life-business came about, a group of entrepreneurs wanted a better way, a way to get life changing information that is affordable for the masses.

Orrin Woodward Woodward: Networking is long overdue for a gale of Creative Destruction that will improve the entire industry. When existing non-innovative companies run into this gale, they can respond in several ways.

The first, and best way, is to compete by developing better ideas, improving the value to all networking consumers. The second, and more common way, is to legally restrain or coerce potential competitors not to compete. This is the worst method, but sadly all too prevalent.

The third way, used when older staid companies refuse to compete in the marketplace, is to support sites who smear the new leaders. These leaders, if allowed to compete in the marketplace, would help to improve the entire industry. However, the older, more established firms view the new companies as competitive threats that must be destroyed or tamed. Therefore, if they cannot tame the new business through legitimate competition in the marketplace, then they must believe supporting an online smear campaign is their next best alternative.

Read the rest of Orrin Woodward article:

This is an interesting time in business where the internet is used to both build and destroy business. I love the freedom of speech the internet allows, however how does the person searching for truth know fact from just plain slander?

What I find interesting is the people using the internet to gossip and smear others hide behind the secrecy of the internet, not showing their face or real name! If someone has something honest to say, why hide?

I encourage you to read and listen to the information provided by the business you are looking into and make a decision based on that information. If some nameless, faceless person is giving you opinions online you can assume they are hiding and spreading false information to protest their company or just to hurt others.

Second, go to the-life-business.com and check out the testimonies that are coming in daily from around North America. These people are willing to put their name and face to their opinion. Some are even speakers around the country that you can meet in person and look into their eyes, some will be the very people who are directly helping you build your business!

The LIFE founders have resolved to learn from our previous networking experiences, vowing to creatively destroy any parts that we did not believe satisfied or exceeded the customers’ expectations. We plan on doing this through applying free enterprise principles in the marketplace, not feeling the need to resort to reputation assassinations of our former associates. Perhaps both sides would benefit from applying this highroad principle. Certainly, the consumers would benefit by enjoying the freedom to study the pros and cons of each potential business models on its merits.

A person only has so much mental energy. The question is: what is he investing it in – dreams or dramas? The more he fills his head with dramas, the less room he has for dreams. In truth, I have never met a dream achiever who invested much time in drama loving. Conversely, I have never met a drama lover, who invested much time in dream achieving. This is why I have invested my life in dream achievement and quickly identify and disassociate myself from the drama lovers of life. Victors love dreaming for it keeps their mind free from dramas. Victims, on the other hand, love dramatizing for it keeps their mind free from dreams. Whichever group you choose to associate with determines your future destiny.

If anyone reading this has a dream and desires to achieve it by helping LIFE TEAM apply the free enterprise creative destruction principles to the networking profession, then I welcome you. If anyone reading this wants to join the online agenda-laden purveyors of dramas, then I support your right to do so. I only request that you ponder this: why is it that one side uses its freedoms to create a new business model, which benefits the consumer; while the other side uses its freedoms in an attempt to destroy the new model, which hurts the consumer? When a person realizes the economics consequences of Creative Destruction upon the older business models, the fog is lifted and the truth is revealed. Ponder wisely. :) Sincerely, Orrin Woodward

God bless, Dan Hawkins

Orrin Woodward – Motivation or Scam?

Is Orrin Woodward’s leadership and training motivating you to become your best?

What is your motivation?

What keeps you up at night?

What is it that will push you out of your comfort zone to become your best self?

I remember some of the early Team/LIFE meetings I would attend and hear these kind of statements or questions. My first thought was, give me something tangible, some details, tell me what to do! “Those who know how will always work for those who know why” Henry Ford. Ouch that hurt! It was interesting I was sitting in a meeting trying to learn how to get different results, but expected to hear what I already knew. Those who know and not do, really do not know! Every success book I have picked up has discussed at some point (usually the beginning) how it started with a dream and you will have too as well. This is not some scam to get your hopes up and get you to do something for someone else, my job was good at that. The promise of a bigger raise, more time off, a promotion.

The-life-business.com is real!

Orrin Woodward has gone on a mission to get Americas hopes up again, just like when this great nation was founded. Only he has also created a vehicle you can use to accomplish your dreams! Can you image the amount of courage it took to do what the founders did. This country, our freedom, was started on a hopes and a prayers of a few, and has blessed many for a couple hundred years.   Take time to find your dream, your purpose and go do the work.  Here is a great video from Launching a Leadership Revolution that will help you find your motivation.

What if a community called LIFE/Team began to dream, got peoples hopes up and reestablished this country to its roots. This is real and you can do it, dream big!         God bless, Dan Hawkins

Hey everyone, I thought this article from Leadership expert Orrin Woodward was worth sharing!

Why is it that the greatest leaders of all-time seem to either have rabid fans or rabid critics? The answer is simple: truth polarizes. When a leader leads with his convictions, others, who do not hold the same convictions, will criticize the endeavor. Throughout history, men and women like Mother Theresa, Martin Luther, Sam Walton, Oliver Cromwell, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln, to name a few, have received mountaintop praise and sewer-based criticisms. In fact, if a person desires to change the world, then he better build a tough skin while maintaining a soft heart, because he will be criticized!

The LIFE/Team community is striving to be our best. We will all fall down, but true leaders get up, dust off and get better. I love that Orrin Woodward addresses concerns and fixes them. He is a leader and leaders only point fingers at themselves and get better. I hope you chose to review the LIFE/Team information for yourself and make a decision to join the LIFE/Team. We are going to 1 million!
